CertainTeed Gutter Replacement: The Dallas Owner’s Guide

CertainTeed gutter replacement in Dallas typically runs $8 to $16 per linear foot installed, so a standard 160-foot home lands between $1,300 and $2,600 with most jobs finished in a single day. We stock CertainTeed-compatible aluminum and vinyl gutter profiles on our trucks and can match most existing runs without waiting on a special order. Homeowners usually discover the failure the hard way: a seam pulls apart after a North Texas thunderstorm, a downspout cracks at the elbow, or the fascia board behind the gutter starts showing water stains after months of slow drip. Sometimes it’s a visible sag, sometimes it’s soil erosion at the foundation line. Either way, the gutter stopped doing its one job and the water went somewhere it shouldn’t.

We’re an independent Dallas roofing and gutter contractor, not a CertainTeed corporate branch, which means we can be straight with you about what needs replacing and what still has life in it.

Which CertainTeed Models This Applies To

CertainTeed makes three main gutter lines we run into across Dallas homes: Landmark aluminum seamless gutters, the NewCastle series (which pairs with CertainTeed’s vinyl siding), and Restoration Millwork gutters for older homes and historic districts like Munger Place or Winnetka Heights. Each series uses slightly different hanger spacing and profile depths, and that’s where the compatibility problems start.

The most common gotcha is the mounting bracket. CertainTeed’s NewCastle line uses a hidden hanger that clips into the back wall, not the lip, and if you install a generic hanger meant for a standard aluminum gutter, the gutter will pull loose within two or three seasons. Landmark aluminum runs are more forgiving; a quality aftermarket hanger with the right profile depth works fine and costs less than OEM. But Restoration Millwork is the one we tell people not to substitute. Its copper-toned profile is a specific thickness, and the OEM hangers are engineered for wind uplift on two-story facades. If you have a Restoration Millwork home in Oak Cliff or Swiss Avenue, match the exact part.

How to identify yours: check the inside of the gutter for a stamped code, usually near an end cap or downspout outlet. If the stamp is gone (common after 10-plus Texas summers), measure the top opening. NewCastle runs 5 inches. Restoration Millwork runs 5.5 inches with a deeper box. That half-inch difference is the difference between a clean match and a gutter that dumps water behind the fascia.

Signs Your CertainTeed Gutter Replacement Is Failing

  • Seam separation at the corners or downspout joint. CertainTeed’s sealed seams eventually lose their adhesive under repeated thermal expansion. When the gutter heats to 140 degrees on an August afternoon and cools 70 degrees overnight, the metal flexes and the seal lets go. You’ll see a steady drip from the corner even on light rain days.
  • Pulling away from the fascia board. The hidden hangers on NewCastle runs have a plastic sleeve that brittles in Dallas heat. Once the sleeve cracks, the hanger slides, and sections of gutter start leaning outward by a quarter-inch or more. That’s the warning sign before a full section drops.
  • Overflow at the outside edge during normal rain. This isn’t a clog issue if you’ve cleaned them, it’s a slope problem. Over 15-plus years, long runs settle and the original 1/4-inch-per-10-feet pitch flattens out. Water pools, finds the low spot, and cascades over the side instead of heading to the downspout.
  • Rust streaks or paint blistering on aluminum runs. Once the factory coating is compromised, the metal underneath oxidizes. CertainTeed’s Landmark line has a decent enamel, but hail hits or repeated contact with oak limbs can break the surface. Steady rust means the metal is getting thin, and thin metal tears when you try to clean it.
  • Downspout elbow cracks at the first bend. This is the part we replace most often. Water sits in the bottom of that elbow, expands when it freezes (which happens a few nights a year in Dallas), and eventually splits the seam. If you hear water trickling inside the wall near your downspout instead of rushing out the bottom, this is the usual culprit.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what Mercer Roofing Co Dallas quotes, in writing, before any work starts:

  • 5-inch aluminum seamless gutter replacement: $8 to $12 per linear foot installed, including hangers, end caps, and downspout outlets
  • 5.5-inch Restoration Millwork or custom-depth replacement: $12 to $16 per linear foot, including OEM-compatible hangers and proper bridging
  • Downspout replacement (standard 2×3): $7 to $9 per linear foot, including elbows and brackets
  • Gutter repair (section patch, reseal, hanger replacement): $150 to $450 depending on length and access

That price includes tear-off and haul-away of the old material, fascia inspection, and proper slope correction. If we find rot in the fascia board behind the gutter (and in Dallas, we often do, especially on west-facing walls), we’ll show you before we touch it and price that separately. You’ll know the number before a nail goes in. No change orders, no invoice surprises at the end. Every gutter replacement carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not performing correctly within a year, we come back at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself: clean the debris out, check for cracked elbows, run a hose through to see where the water actually exits. Those are homeowner tasks and they’ll tell you a lot. What we don’t recommend is replacing a full gutter run from a ladder. Seamless aluminum gutters come in lengths your truck cannot carry without a roll-former, and the sections you can buy at the big-box stores are 10-foot pieces that require three seams per 30 feet. Every one of those seams is a future leak. Add in ladder work at eave height on a two-story Dallas home and the risk isn’t worth the savings.

Most gutter failures happen where you can’t safely reach without extension ladders, standoffs, and a second set of hands on the ground. If you’re not equipped for that, call (432) 302-5605 and we’ll handle it. The estimate is free and the price you get is the price you’ll pay.
