Atlas Shingle Repair: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
Atlas shingle repair in Dallas typically runs $285 – $640 installed, depending on how many shingles need replacement and whether the underlayment or decking underneath took damage. We keep Atlas-compatible shingles stocked on our trucks so most repairs happen in a single visit, usually within two to three hours once we’re on the roof. Most homeowners discover the problem the hard way: a shingle in the yard after a spring storm, a dark stain spreading across the bedroom ceiling, or granules collecting in the gutter after a hail event.
Dallas weather is hard on Atlas shingles. Hail season runs March through June, and the freeze-thaw cycles of January and February work under shingle tabs and lift them. We see it on every side of town, from Lakewood to Richardson to Oak Cliff. The good news: matching Atlas shingles is straightforward when you know the line and the color code, which we cover below.
Which Atlas Models This Applies To
Atlas manufactures several shingle lines still common on Dallas roofs. The ones we repair most often: Pinnacle Pristine (their flagship architectural shingle), StormMaster Shake (impact-rated, popular in hail-prone ZIP codes), GlassMaster (a three-tab budget line on older homes), and the newer Hyperion and WeatherMaster lines. Each has its own color codes and manufacturing stamps, and that matters.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most homeowners run into: Atlas moved much of its production through different plants over the years, and dye-lot color matching between a 2016 batch and a 2024 batch of the same named color is not exact. On a newer roof, we can usually match close enough that you won’t spot it from the ground. On a 10-year-old Dallas roof with sun fading, the right fix is sometimes a whole slope replacement rather than a patch, because a brand-new shingle against a weathered field looks like a checkerboard. We’ll tell you straight which way to go after we look at the roof.
Atlas shingles carry a manufacturer stamp on the underside of the tab, or in some cases a printed code on the packaging. If you still have a bundle left in the garage, keep it. That bundle tells us the exact plant, line, and color code, and it saves us a trip off the roof to compare.

Signs Your Atlas Shingle Repair Is Failing
- Granule loss in the gutter. Atlas shingles shed some granules when new, but heavy accumulation after a storm means the asphalt mat underneath is exposed. Hail impact usually causes this, and once the mat is exposed, Texas UV rays accelerate the breakdown fast.
- Cupping or curling at the shingle edges. North Texas humidity in the spring plus attic heat in the summer causes older Atlas shingles to curl. A curled shingle catches wind and becomes the first thing that flies off in the next big storm.
- A shingle in the yard. If you find a full shingle tab on the lawn after a windy night, the sealant strip has failed. Dallas gets 30 – 40 mph gusts routinely in April and May, and a single unsealed Atlas shingle invites its neighbors to follow.
- Water stains on the ceiling. This is the late-stage symptom. By the time you see the stain, the leak has been active long enough to damage decking. In Dallas attics, that moisture also invites mold within days during the summer.
- Flashing separation around penetrations. Chimneys, vents, and skylights are where Atlas shingles stop being the roofing system and start being a partnership with metal. When the flashing pulls away or corrodes, water walks right under perfectly good shingles.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what we charge in Dallas, in real dollars:
| Scope | Typical Installed Price |
|---|---|
| Single shingle replacement (flat, accessible area) | $285 – $380 |
| Small patch (3 – 6 shingles, includes underlayment repair) | $420 – $640 |
| Full slope re-shingle (one roof face, Atlas-compatible) | $1,800 – $3,200 |
The range depends on roof pitch (a 10/12 roof costs more in labor than a 4/12), whether the decking underneath needs replacement, and how many pipe boots or vents are involved. You get a written price before any work starts, with parts and labor broken out. Every Atlas repair includes our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the fix doesn’t hold for a full year, we come back and make it right at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
Shingle replacement is not a safe DIY project on most Dallas two-story homes. The fall risk is real, and on a steep pitch even walking the roof requires the right gear. What you can safely do from the ground: identify which slope the shingle came from, check your gutters for granules, and take photos of any damage. That helps us prepare the right fix before we arrive.
What goes wrong with DIY Atlas repairs: homeowners use roofing cement that won’t hold in Dallas heat, they nail through the old shingle in the wrong place and create a new leak, or they miss hidden decking damage. By the time we see it, the fix costs more than if we’d started with it. If you’re not sure, call (432) 302-5605 and we’ll give you an honest read on what you’re dealing with.
FAQs
Atlas Pinnacle and StormMaster lines typically last 15 – 22 years in Dallas, shorter than the manufacturer’s 30-year material rating because North Texas hail, heat, and freeze-thaw cycles accelerate wear. Homes with strong attic ventilation and regular granule checks get the longer end of that range. Call (432) 302-5605 if you’re not sure how old your roof is.
Yes, if the shingle field is structurally sound and the damage is isolated, a targeted Atlas repair works and saves real money. If the shingles are cupping across multiple slopes or the sealant strips have failed roof-wide, replacement is the only honest answer. We’ll tell you which one you’re looking at before any work is priced.
A standard Atlas shingle repair takes two to three hours on site. Larger patches or slope re-shingles can take a full day, and we’ll give you that estimate up front. We don’t start work until the written price is in your hand.
We carry Atlas-compatible materials in the truck for common lines and colorways, plus GAF, Owens Corning, and CertainTeed materials for matching. If you still have the original Atlas bundle, that locks the color code and speeds up the match.
