GAF Roofing Company in Dallas: What to Know First
As an independent GAF roofing company in Dallas, we repair and replace GAF shingle roofs using manufacturer-recognized installation practices, and most repair work is completed in a single visit. You’ll get a written price before any work begins, and every repair carries a written 365-day guarantee. If a repair fails within that year, we come back and make it right at no charge.
This page is for Dallas homeowners who have a GAF roof that’s leaking, lifting, buckling, or just getting old – and who want someone who knows the difference between a Timberline and a Royal Sovereign before the ladder even goes up. If you’re seeing water stains on a ceiling or granules in the gutter, call (432) 302-5605 for a free estimate. Grant Whitlock and our crew have worked on hundreds of GAF roofs from Oak Cliff to Far North Dallas.
How GAF Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
Not every shingle fails the same way. Here are the GAF-specific problems we see most often on Dallas roofs, and what we actually do about them.
- Timberline HDZ / Ultra HDZ seal failure at the nailing strip. The two-layer laminated design is strong, but in Dallas heat, we regularly find shingles where the thermal seal never fully bonded or broke loose after a wind event. The shingle looks fine from the ground but lifts with the next big storm. We re-seal where the decking is sound and replace where it isn’t. A loose Timberline shingle on a 110-degree afternoon pulls off with almost no effort – by August in Mesquite or Garland, that’s a common call.
- Royal Sovereign granule shedding on older three-tabs. The Sovereign line wasn’t built for decades of North Texas UV. When we see bare fiberglass mat showing through, that roof is past patching. We’ll tell you straight: if the granules are gone, replacement is the only honest fix. Patching buys months, not years.
- Timberline Natural Shadow / HDZ wind crease at the lap line. GAF’s wider exposure looks good, but ridge-adjacent courses take the brunt of our spring storm winds. We find creased shingles that cracked along the bond line. The diagnostic matters because a creased shingle needs replacement, not re-sealing – and a roofer who just dabs adhesive on it hasn’t actually fixed anything.
- Valley failures on steep GAF cuts, especially in Lake Highlands and Richardson. Dallas valleys channel a lot of water fast. When installers had cut the valley too tight originally, we see erosion right through the shingle face. We re-cut the valley with proper overlap and a closed-cut detail that actually sheds water instead of trapping it.
- GAF Deck-Armor or older felt underlayment saturated under the field. Sometimes the shingles are fine and the underlayment underneath is the problem, usually from an old nail-pop or a past repair that wasn’t flashed right. We remove the affected field, inspect the decking, replace what’s soft, and relay with the correct underlayment before reinstalling the shingles.

Our GAF Roofing Company Process
Every GAF job we take in Dallas follows the same sequence. Here’s what happens from the first call to the final nail.
- 1
You call and talk to a person. A live human answers at (432) 302-5605, any hour. You tell us what you’re seeing, and we schedule a visit. You’ll get the technician’s name and photo before we arrive.
- 2
We walk the roof and document what we find. We look at shingle condition, flashing, penetrations, valleys, and the decking where accessible. Photos go with the estimate so you can see exactly what we saw, even if you never climb up there.
- 3
You get a written price. Before any work starts, you’ll have a line-item price in writing. If it turns out the repair is smaller than we thought, you pay the smaller amount. If we find something bigger, we call first – we don’t just add to the bill.
- 4
We make the repair with the right materials. For GAF work, we use GAF or GAF-compatible parts where the warranty matters, and we’ll tell you when an aftermarket alternative is just as good for less. You decide with our recommendation on the table.
- 5
We test the fix and walk the roof again. Water test where applicable, then a final inspection of the surrounding area for loose nails, lifted shingles, or anything else we don’t like. The roof should look like we were never there, except fixed.
- 6
You get a written guarantee. Every repair includes it, with a free second visit if the repair fails within 365 days. That’s not a verbal promise – it’s paper.

AfterWhat GAF Roofing Company Costs in Dallas
Here’s what you can expect to pay for common GAF repair scenarios in Dallas, based on what we typically see across the metro.
- Single shingle or small patch replacement: $280-$450
- Pipe boot or vent flashing replacement on a GAF roof: $320-$525
- Valley repair (re-cut and relay, up to 10 linear feet): $500-$950
- Section repair involving decking replacement (up to 100 sq ft): $900-$2,200
- Full GAF reroof on an average Dallas home (roughly 2,000-2,600 sq ft): $11,000-$18,500, depending on shingle line, tear-off, and decking condition
What moves the price: roof height and pitch (steep costs more to work safely), decking rot, accessibility, and whether the original underlayment needs replacement. We don’t charge for the estimate, and the price we write down is the price you pay. Call (432) 302-5605 and we’ll put numbers on your specific roof.
Why Dallas Homeowners Call Mercer Roofing Co Dallas for GAF Work
Most of our GAF calls in Dallas come from referrals, and we think the reason is simple: we send the technician’s name and photo before they show up, they badge in with a photo ID at your door, and you get the price in writing before a single nail goes in. If you’re home alone, or it’s just you and the kids, you know exactly who’s at the door. That matters as much as the repair itself.
Grant Whitlock grew up in Los Angeles, started on a tear-off crew, and finished the construction technology program at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College before spending nearly two decades roofing across the Southwest. He settled the operation in DFW, where our crew has put on hundreds of roofs from Oak Cliff to Far North Dallas. We work on GAF every week, but we also handle Owens Corning and CertainTeed – so if your roof has mixed brands from a past repair, we can assess the whole thing, not just the GAF section.
Every tech is background-checked, identity-verified, and held to the Threshold Verified standard – a quality framework each independently owned and operated Threshold Group location is contractually required to meet. A roof shouldn’t be something you worry about. Let’s make sure yours isn’t.
FAQs
Repairs done with GAF-compatible materials and proper installation methods do not void the GAF warranty. The warranty covers manufacturing defects in the shingles themselves, and a repair by a qualified independent contractor – which is what we are as an independent GAF service provider – doesn’t cancel that coverage. If you have an active GAF warranty claim, we can help you understand what it covers before we touch the roof.
We answer the phone live, any time, and we schedule the visit as soon as we have a technician available for your area of Dallas. We can typically get to most leak calls within 24 to 48 hours. If it’s actively leaking into the house, we’ll tell you how to slow it down safely until we arrive – call (432) 302-5605 and we’ll walk you through it.
If the decking is dry and solid and the shingles are less than 15 years old with localized damage, repair is usually the right call. If you’re seeing granule loss across the whole field, curling at the edges, or soft spots in the decking, replacement is likely cheaper in the long run than repeated patch jobs. We’ll show you photos and give you both numbers so you can decide with real information. Estimates are free either way.
No. The written price is the price, and if we find something bigger while we’re up there, we stop and call you before doing anything that would change the bill. We won’t surprise you at the end. That’s a rule at Mercer Roofing Co Dallas, not a suggestion.
We do, and we’ll be honest about what makes sense. On very old GAF roofs, especially Royal Sovereign three-tabs from the late 90s and early 2000s, we often find decay that makes patching a short-term fix. We’ll tell you what the roof needs versus what’s the minimum that would hold – that’s Grant’s habit, and it’s earned more repeat calls than any ad we’ve ever run.
