IKO Gutter Replacement: The Dallas Owner’s Guide

Mercer Roofing Co Dallas stocks and installs IKO-compatible gutter replacement components for Dallas homes, with most full gutter runs priced between $850 and $2,400 installed depending on linear footage, profile style, and fascia condition. We keep the common IKO profiles on our trucks, so most replacements happen in a single morning visit. Homeowners typically find us after a spring storm has pulled a section of gutter loose, or when they spot rust blooms at the seams and realize the system has quietly been failing for a season or two.

In Dallas, gutters do more than carry rain. They protect the roof edge, the fascia board, and the foundation from our flash-flood downpours and the long dry spells that crack and warp cheaper aluminum. When an IKO gutter component fails, it’s rarely dramatic. It’s the drip line forming along the back channel, the spike pulling free from the fascia, or the end cap that’s started to sag. If you’re reading this, you’ve probably already seen one of those signs.

Which IKO Models This Applies To

IKO’s gutter line in the U.S. market covers three main profiles: the 5-inch K-style, the 6-inch K-style, and a smaller half-round option used on some ranch and mid-century homes around East Dallas and Richardson. Each profile uses different hangers, end caps, and miters, and they are not interchangeable. A 5-inch K-style end cap will not seat on a 6-inch channel, and half-round hangers won’t grip a K-style lip.

What matters most is not the IKO logo, but the profile measurement. Take a tape measure across the top opening of the gutter. If it reads roughly five inches and the front face has a stepped, crown-molding shape, that’s a 5-inch K-style. Six inches across, same shape, is a 6-inch K-style. A smooth U shape is half-round. We can match most IKO gutter sections with OEM-spec or higher-gauge aftermarket components that fit the exact profile and pitch. Mercer Roofing Co Dallas is an independent service provider, not an IKO subsidiary or authorized dealer, which is what lets us be straight about when an aftermarket hanger or miter performs as well or better than the branded piece.

Signs Your IKO Gutter Replacement Is Failing

  • Water spilling over the front lip during rain. In most cases this means the gutter has pulled away from the fascia and lost its slope toward the downspout. The hangers or spikes have worked loose, and the run is now holding water instead of carrying it.
  • Rust bloom at the seams or end caps. Dallas heat and humidity cycles put real stress on gutter seams. Once the factory seal fails, water sits inside the joint and oxidation begins. By the time you see brown staining on the exterior, the interior channel is usually thin enough to flex by hand.
  • Fascia board showing dark streaks or soft spots. Water that slips behind the gutter back channel wicks into the fascia board. On older Dallas homes with wood fascia, this becomes rot within two to three seasons. The gutter is often the cause, even when the gutter itself looks fine from the ground.
  • Visible sag or gaps between the gutter and the roof edge. A properly hung IKO gutter follows the roofline with about a quarter-inch of slope per ten feet. When it sags in the middle or gaps open at the miters, the hangers have failed or the fascia behind them is gone.
  • Downspout separates from the gutter outlet at the elbow. This joint carries the most weight when the system is full of water. Over time the outlet tube loosens, then the downspout slips, and suddenly half your runoff is pouring straight down at the foundation corner.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For Dallas homeowners, a complete IKO gutter replacement typically runs between $850 and $2,400 installed. A short single run over a porch or patio may come in under $800, while a full perimeter on a two-story home with 6-inch channels and multiple downspouts can push toward the top of that range or slightly beyond.

What drives the price is linear footage first, then profile size, then fascia condition. If the wood behind the gutter is soft, that has to be corrected before new hangers go up, and that’s additional material and labor. Every Mercer job includes a written price before any work starts, so you’ll know the exact number before our crew loads tools. The new gutter run is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it isn’t right within a year, we make it right, in writing, on every job.

DIY or Call Us?

What you can safely do is identify the problem. Check the slope with a level, mark where water spills over, and note which seams are rusting. That helps you get an accurate quote over the phone and tells our crew what to load on the truck.

What goes wrong with DIY gutter replacement is almost always the fascia. Homeowners take down the old run, find rotted wood behind it, and either hang new gutters over the rot or attempt a patch job that fails within a year. Working from an extension ladder with long metal sections overhead is also a two-person job, and a gust of Dallas wind can turn a 10-foot section into a sail. If the fascia is solid and the run is short, some handy owners do tackle it. If the wood is soft, if the run requires two stories, or if the seams have been leaking long enough to stain the soffit, call a crew that does this every week. We’re at (432) 302-5605, and a live person answers.
